What’s the most important pre-workout you take? Spark, SFH-PUSH, a Monster, a Red Bull or a cup of coffee?? Some athletes take these pre-workouts religiously before coming in the box. BUT what they should be drinking more of than anything before exercising is…….WATER!! Just simple water will have an effect on your body more then anything that you can purchase at the nutrition store. Proper hydration is key before you WOD, run or compete.
Before a long run, a race, or a training workout, drink plenty of fluids. The day before an event or even a couple of days before, drink extra water, 100 percent juice and/or other nutrient-rich fluids such as nonfat or 1 percent milk. Monitor the color of your urine. The goal is pale yellow, not clear.
The morning of the event, drink 2 cups (8 oz.) of fluid two hours beforehand. This gives your kidneys enough time to process the liquids, giving you sufficient time to empty your bladder before the start of your event. No one likes to have to leave and find a port-a-potty!! Or for you girls find yourself in the middle of double-unders with a full bladder!!
Not only do we want our body’s to look healthy on the outside with our workout routine we want the inside of our bodies just as healthy! Keep your kidneys and other organs healthy and performing at their highest capacity!
Good luck to all our CFG athletes this weekend competing in the WODLIFE SUMMER games and the Mud Duck Run!!! Start hydrating now!
